Every 3 years or so RVA has the privileged of hosting the International Christian Educators Conference (ICEC) put on by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). This past weekend we had Christian educators from 20 different countries around Africa arrive at RVA for the conference. It was great to be a part of what God is doing all over the continent.
One of the highlights of the conference was Saturday evening we had one of our RVA guards, who is a Massai gentlemen, bring his family up to campus to perform for the delegates. Here’s a bit of video taken by one of my good friends Bill H., since I didn’t have my camera with me. They are singing and dancing in Centennial, our school’s chapel building.
One of the keynote speakers for the conference was Randy Richards, who is Dean of the School of Ministry at Palm Beach Atlantic University. His topic for the keynote addresses and his workshops was to have us read the Bible not with a western worldview, but to realize that the Bible was written with a Jewish worldview. I went ahead and purchased his book Misreading Scripture With Western Eyes. If you are interested in a good read that will help you understand the culture behind the Bible, this is a good one. It didn’t take me long to read, and had some really good thoughts at the end of each chapter to help you think about the Bible and what it really says. Feel free to pick it up at Amazon.com or other places.
Well I guess that’s about it for today. If I don’t get another post out, have a great Easter everyone. Remeber, “Christ is risen; He has risen indeed.”
